WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF USING A VoIP SERVICE COMPARED TO CALLING WITH A PC
Skype is free from computer to computer, since it exclusively uses Internet to communicate. To make or receive calls from the telephone network will cost some, since there is a cost to that network connection. Vonage does not use a computer but you do need a modem. It’s completely independent of the compute. I have to admit that I've never tired either, but I would really like to use Vonage and Skype in the near future.
What is Skype
Skype is a little piece of software that lets you talk over the internet to anyone in the world.
Key features
Video calling is simple to set up and offers a great way to see friends and colleagues.
Making a video call using Skype requires a web cam (in addition to your headset or speakers and microphone).
Install the software for the web cam and then plug in the web cam to the computer. Skype will automatically detect the web cam and offer a way to test the web cam to ensure everything is working correctly. Once that is done, any Skype call can include video.
Conference calling is convenient and simple to initiate.
To include multiple Skype contacts in the same call, simply click the conference button in the Skype window and add the desired parties. Skype can conference up to 5 people in a call on any computer and up to 10 people in one call if the people on the call are using a PC with an Intel Duo Core Processor.
What is a Phone? A WiFi Phone is a phone that connect wireless to the Internet through wireless network access points. WiFi phones use technology known as Voice over Internet Protocol VoIP. Unlike traditional cordless phones, WiFi phones translate conversations into IP packets that are easily sent over the Internet, instead of the standard circuit-switched phone system.
It is another way of making phone calls, with the difference of making the calls cheaper or completely free. The ‘phone’ part is not always present anymore, as you can communicate without a telephone set.
VoIP has a lot of advantages over the traditional phone system. The main reason for which people are so massively turning to VoIP technology is the cost. VoIP is said to be cheap, but most people use it for free. Yes, if you have a computer with a microphone and speakers, and a good Internet connection, you can communicate using VoIP for free. This can also be possible with your mobile and home phone.
There are many ways of using VoIP technology. It all depends on where and how you will be making the calls. It could be at home, at work, in your corporate network, during a travel and even on the beach. The way you make calls varies with the VoIP service you use.
